Please read and follow the instructions in this manual. Proper fit of the collar is important. A collar worn for too long
or made too tight on the dog’s neck may cause skin damage. This is called bed sores; it is also called decubitus ulcers or
pressure necrosis.
• Avoid leaving the collar on the dog for more than 12 hours per day.
• When possible, reposition the collar on the dog’s neck every 1 to 2 hours.
• Check the fit to prevent excessive pressure; follow the instructions in this manual.
• Never connect a lead to the Collar Receiver; it will cause excessive pressure on the contacts.
• When using a separate collar for a lead, don’t put pressure on the electronic collar.
• Wash the dog’s neck area and the contacts of the collar weekly with a damp cloth.
• Examine the contact area daily for signs of a rash or a sore.
• If a rash or sore is found, discontinue use of the collar until the skin has healed.
• If the condition persists beyond 48 hours, see your veterinarian.

These steps will help keep your dog safe and comfortable. Millions of dogs are comfortable while they wear stainless steel
contacts. Some dogs are sensitive to contact pressure. You may find after some time that your dog is very tolerant of the
collar. If so, you may relax some of these precautions. It is important to continue daily checks of the contact area. If redness
or sores are found, discontinue use until the skin has fully healed.
• You may need to trim the hair in the area of the Contact Points or switch to the longer Contact Points to ensure consistent
contact. Never shave the dog’s neck; this may lead to a rash or infection.
• You should not make the collar any tighter than is required for good contact. A collar that is too tight will increase the
risk of pressure necrosis in the contact area.

HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS
The SportDOG® SportTrainer® SD-1225E Remote Trainer has been proven safe, comfortable, and effective for all dogs
over 3.6 kg. Consistent, correct use of this product allows you to reinforce commands and correct misbehaviour from up to
1200 metres. The Remote Transmitter sends a signal, activating the Collar Receiver to deliver a harmless stimulation. With
proper training, a dog will learn to associate this signal with a command. Like all SportDOG® products, this model features
adjustable static stimulation levels so you can tailor the stimulation level to your dog’s temperament, eliminating the risk of
over-correction.
IMPORTANT: THE SPORTTRAINER® SD-1225E REMOTE TRAINER HAS A RANGE OF UP TO
1200 M. DEPENDING ON THE WAY YOU HOLD THE REMOTE TRANSMITTER, THE MAXIMUM
RANGE MAY VARY. FOR CONSISTENT RESULTS AT LONGER RANGES, HOLD THE REMOTE
TRANSMITTER IN A VERTICAL POSITION AWAY FROM YOUR BODY AND ABOVE YOUR HEAD.
TERRAIN, WEATHER, VEGETATION, TRANSMISSION FROM OTHER RADIO DEVICES, AND
OTHER FACTORS WILL AFFECT THE MAXIMUM RANGE.

KEY DEFINITIONS
REMOTE TRANSMITTER: Transmits the radio signal to the Collar
Receiver. It is waterproof and can be submerged in water to a
depth of 7.6 m.
INTENSITY DIAL: Provides multiple levels of static stimulation so
you can match the correction to your dog’s temperament.
TRANSMITTER INDICATOR LIGHT: Indicates that a button is
pressed and also serves as a low-battery indicator.
UPPER BUTTON: This button is factory-set to deliver continuous
static stimulation.
LOWER BUTTON: This button is factory-set to deliver momentary
static stimulation, or a “Nick”.
SIDE BUTTON: This button is factory-set to deliver a tone without
static stimulation.
CHARGING JACK: For connecting the charger. Although the
Remote Transmitter is waterproof without it, keep the cover in
place when not charging to keep debris out of the opening.
MODE BUTTON: This button gives you the ability to change the
mode of your Remote Transmitter.
COLLAR RECEIVER: Receives the radio signal from the Remote
Transmitter and delivers the static, vibration, or tone stimulation
for correcting or cueing your dog. It is waterproof and can be
submerged in water to a depth of 7.6 m.
RECEIVER INDICATOR LIGHT: Indicates when the Collar Receiver
has been turned on or off and serves as a low-battery indicator.
CONTACT POINTS: The contacts through which the Collar
Receiver delivers static stimulation.
ON/OFF BUTTON: Momentarily pressing and releasing this
button turns the Collar Receiver on and off.
THE COLLAR RECEIVER IS CAPABLE OF DELIVERING FOUR TYPES OF STIMULATION:
CONTINUOUS: You control both when and how long static stimulation is delivered, up to a maximum of 10 seconds. After
10 seconds, the static stimulation will “time out” and the Remote Transmitter button needs to be released and then pressed
again before additional static stimulation can be delivered.
MOMENTARY (NICK): Static stimulation is delivered for 1/10 of a second, regardless of how long the button is pressed.
TONE: The Collar Receiver will make a rapid beeping noise when a Tone button is pressed, up to a maximum of 10 seconds.
VIBRATION (VIBE): The Collar Receiver will vibrate when a Vibration button is pressed, up to a maximum of 10 seconds.

PREPARE THE REMOTE TRANSMITTER
CHARGE THE REMOTE TRANSMITTER
1. Lift the rubber cover protecting the Charging Jack.
2. Connect one of the charger connectors to the
Charging Jack.
3. Plug the charger into a standard wall outlet.
4. Charge the Remote Transmitter for 2 hours for the first
charge and every charge thereafter.
Using Lithium-Ion technology, the Remote Transmitter only
requires a 2 hour charge. It is not harmful to let the unit charge
for more than 2 hours.
5. When charging is complete, replace the
rubber cover.
NOTE: Approximate battery life between charges is 40 to 60
hours, depending on frequency of use.

RECHARGEABLE BATTERIES

• Batteries should never be removed from the battery compartment for charging.
• Risk of explosion if batteries are charged in areas with high temperature (38° C / 100° F+).
• The rechargeable Lithium Ion (Li-Ion) batteries are not memory sensitive, do not require depletion before charging, and
cannot be over charged.
• The batteries come partially charged from the factory, but will require a full charge before the first use.
• When storing the unit for long periods, remember to regularly give batteries a full charge. This should be done once
every 3 to 4 months.
• You should expect hundreds of recharge cycles from your batteries. However, all rechargeable batteries lose capacity
over time relative to the number of recharge cycles they experience. This is normal. If your operating time drops to half of
the original life, contact the Customer Care Centre to purchase a new battery.
• The batteries should last for a period of 3-5 years. When a battery needs replacement, you can order a new pack by
calling our Customer Care Centre. For a listing of telephone numbers in your area, visit our website at www.sportdog.
com. Please do not open the Collar Receiver or Remote Transmitter until you have received the replacement.

FIT THE COLLAR RECEIVER
IMPORTANT: The proper fit and placement of the Collar Receiver is important for effective training. The Contact Points must
have direct contact with your dog’s skin.
Please see page 3 for Important Safety Information.
To ensure a proper fit, follow these steps:
1. With your dog standing (3A), center the Collar
Receiver so the Contact Points are underneath
your dog’s neck, touching the skin (3B). If your
dog has a long or thick coat, you have two options
to ensure consistent contact: either trim the hair
around the Contact Points or switch to the longer
Contact Points included with your system.
• You may need to trim the hair in the area of the Contact Points. Never shave the dog’s neck; this may lead to a
rash or infection.
• You should not make the collar any tighter than is required for good contact. A collar that is too tight will increase the
risk of pressure necrosis in the contact area.
2. The Collar Receiver should fit snugly, yet loose enough to allow one finger to fit
between the strap and your dog’s neck (3C).
3. Allow your dog to wear the collar for several minutes, and then recheck the fit. Check
the fit again as your dog becomes more comfortable wearing the Collar Receiver.

FIND THE BEST INTENSITY LEVEL FOR YOUR DOG
The SportTrainer® SD-1225E Remote Trainer has multiple intensity levels. This allows you to choose the static stimulation
that is best for your dog.
NOTE: Always start at the lowest level and work your way up.
For training efficiency, it is important to find the right intensity level for your dog. This is called the “Recognition Level”, and is
the level at which your dog looks around in curiosity or flicks his ears.
TO FIND YOUR DOG’S RECOGNITION LEVEL
NOTE: Every dog is different and you cannot predict where your dog’s Recognition Level will be. Watch closely for any slight
change in behaviour that demonstrates your dog is feeling the static stimulation.
1. With the Collar Receiver turned on and properly fitted to your dog, set the Remote Transmitter’s Intensity Dial at Level 1
and press the Continuous Static Stimulation Button for 1 to 2 seconds.
2. If your dog shows no reaction to Level 1, go to Level 2 and repeat the process.
3. YOUR DOG SHOULD NOT VOCALIZE OR PANIC WHEN RECEIVING STATIC STIMULATION. IF THIS HAPPENS, THE STATIC
STIMULATION LEVEL IS TOO HIGH AND YOU NEED TO GO BACK TO THE PREVIOUS LEVEL AND REPEAT THE PROCESS.
4. Once you find your dog’s Recognition Level, this is the level you should use when you begin a
training exercise.

5. If you have progressed to Level 8 while searching for your dog’s Recognition Level and your dog continues to show
no response, check to see if the Collar Receiver is snug against your dog’s neck. Then go back to Intensity Level 1 and
repeat the process. If your dog still does not indicate he is feeling the static stimulation, you have three options: trim
the hair beneath the Contact Points, switch to the longer Contact Points included in your system, or change the static
stimulation range.
If after completing all of these steps your dog still does not indicate he is feeling the static stimulation, please contact the
Customer Care Centre.
CHANGE STATIC STIMULATION RANGES
The SportTrainer® SD-1225E Collar Receiver has 3 static stimulation ranges (low, medium, and high). There are 8 static
stimulation levels within each range, with 1 being the lowest and 8 being the highest. The default range setting is 2 (medium).
To change the range of static stimulation, follow these steps:
1. Make sure the Collar Receiver is off.
2. Turn the unit on by pressing and releasing the On/Off Button.
3. Within 5 seconds of the Indicator Light turning off, press and hold the On/Off Button for 3 seconds.
4. The Collar Receiver will then beep once and the Indicator Light will flash orange. This indicates Low static stimulation
range. If Medium or High is desired, continue to hold the On/Off Button until the number of beeps/orange flashes equals
the desired static stimulation range, as shown in the chart below.
5. Release the On/Off Button once the desired range is selected; the Collar Receiver will turn off.
6. Turn the unit back on. It will then beep according to the static stimulation range selected in Step 4.

BEFORE TRAINING YOUR DOG WITH THIS PRODUCT
You will have the most success using this remote trainer if you always remember to teach a command before trying to
reinforce the command with a remote trainer. Always keep the following training tips in mind:
• Eliminate one misbehaviour or teach one obedience command at a time. If you move too fast with the training, your dog
may become confused.
• Be consistent. Give your dog a static, tone, or vibration stimulation with each misbehaviour.
• Do not overcorrect your dog. Use as few stimulations as possible to train your dog.
• Restrict your dog from situations in which he has a history of misbehaving unless you can supervise him and use the
SportTrainer® SD-1225E Remote Trainer for applying static, tone, or vibration stimulation.
• If you notice one situation in which your dog misbehaves repeatedly, set up this situation as a training session. This will
dramatically increase your chances of success.
• If your dog has a timid reaction to the static, tone, or vibration stimulation (especially the first couple of times), do not be
alarmed. Redirect his attention to a simple and appropriate behaviour (i.e. a known command, such as “Sit”).
• Never use the SportTrainer® SD-1225E Remote Trainer to correct or eliminate any form of aggressive behaviour. If your
dog exhibits such behaviour, contact a professional trainer. Aggression in dogs is the result of many factors. It may be a
learned behaviour or it may be brought on as a result of fear. Another factor contributing to aggression in dogs is social
dominance. Every dog is different.

PROGRAM THE REMOTE TRANSMITTER
The SportTrainer® SD-1225E Remote Transmitter has seven operational modes to allow you to select the best match for your
type or style of training. The Remote Transmitter is factory set to mode 1.
TO CHANGE THE MODE
1. Referring to the following table, adjust the Intensity Dial to your
desired mode.
2. Turn the Remote Transmitter over
(remove the belt clip if attached).
3. Using a pen or the tine on the buckle of your collar strap, press
and release the Mode Button. When the Mode Button is pressed,
the Transmitter Indicator Light will be solid in colour. When it is
released, it will flash the number of times for the mode selected.
For example, if mode 2 is desired, adjust the Intensity Dial to Level 2. Once the Mode Button has been depressed,
the Transmitter Indicator Light will be solid and, once the Mode Button is released, the Transmitter Indicator Light
will flash twice.

NOTE: Modes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 provide 8 levels of static stimulation, which correspond to the setting of the Intensity Dial.
Mode 6 provides more “increments” to choose from – a total of 16 levels of static stimulation. For example, in mode 6 with
the Intensity Dial set at 2, the lower button provides level 3 of 16 and the upper button provides level 4 of 16.
† The +2 Boost sends a signal to the collar to issue a static stimulation that is 2 levels higher than the currently selected level.
The system will not correct higher than level 8.
* After selecting mode 6 and while the green Indicator Light is still solid in colour, turn the Intensity Dial to the desired
Continuous Stimulation level and press the Side Button to set the level. The green Indicator Light will quickly flash
acknowledging your selection. For example, if you turned the Intensity Dial to 3, the Side Button on your Remote
Transmitter will transmit Continuous Stimulation at level 3 when pressed. If no level is selected after 15 seconds, it will
default to level 8.

MATCH THE COLLAR RECEIVER AND REMOTE TRANSMITTER
To match the Collar Receiver to work with a new Remote Transmitter or to match a new Collar Receiver to work with your
existing Remote Transmitter:
1. Turn the Collar Receiver off.
2. Press and hold the On/Off Button. The Receiver Indicator Light will come on, then turn off after 5-6 seconds. If the On/Off
Button is released too early, the Receiver Indicator Light will begin flashing as normal. If this occurs, start over from 1.
3. After the Receiver Indicator Light has turned off, release the On/Off Button.
4. Press and hold the Upper Button on the Remote Transmitter until the Receiver Indicator Light flashes 5 times. You may
need to hold both units 60 cm - 90 cm from each other before this occurs. Once the Receiver Indicator Light has flashed
5 times, the Collar Receiver has been matched and will begin flashing as normal. If the Receiver Indicator Light does not
flash 5 times, start over from 1.

PROGRAM THE SYSTEM FOR TWO OR THREEDOG OPERATION
SportDOG® Add-A-Dog® extra Collar Receiver(s) must be purchased to train additional dogs. Please refer to the back cover
for compatible Add-A-Dog® extra Collar Receivers for this system.
1. Program the Remote Transmitter to mode 7 (see STEP 05).
2. Program the first Collar Receiver.
A. Turn the Collar Receiver off.
B. Press and hold the On/Off Button. The Receiver Indicator Light will come on, then turn off after 4-5 seconds. If the
On/Off Button is released too early, the Receiver Indicator Light will begin its normal flashing. If this occurs, start
over from A.
C. After the Receiver Indicator Light has turned off, release the On/Off Button.
D. Press and hold the Upper Button on the Remote Transmitter until the Receiver Indicator Light flashes 5 times. You
may need to hold both units 60 cm - 90 cm from each other before this occurs. If the Receiver Indicator Light does not
flash 5 times, start over from A.
3. Program the second Collar Receiver using A through D above, but using the Lower Button in place of the Upper Button.
4. Program the third Collar Receiver using A through D above, but using the Side Button in place of the Upper Button.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is the static stimulation safe for my dog? While Continuous static and/or Momentary static stimulation may be
unpleasant, it is harmless to your dog. Electronic training devices require
interaction and training from the owner to achieve desired results.
How old does a dog have to be before
using the SportTrainer® SD-1225E
Remote Trainer?
Your dog should be able to learn basic obedience commands such as “Sit”
or “Stay”. The system should only be used with dogs over 6 months of age.
The Collar Receiver may be too large for dogs under 3.6 kg. If your pet is
injured or its mobility is otherwise impaired, contact your veterinarian or
professional trainer before use.
Once my dog is trained and has been
obeying my commands, will my dog have to
continue to wear the Collar Receiver?
Your dog may need to wear the Collar Receiver from time to time for
reinforcement. Also, many hunters keep the Collar Receiver on their dogs
while hunting for maximum control.
Is the Collar Receiver waterproof? Yes. If the rechargeable battery pack ever needs to be replaced, make sure
the o-ring and o-ring groove are free from dirt and debris.
Can my Collar Receiver be used around
salt water?
Yes. However, if the Collar Receiver is used in or around salt water, it should
be rinsed with fresh water following each use.
Can I use the SportTrainer® SD-1225E
Remote Trainer with more than one dog?
Yes. The SportTrainer® SD-1225E Remote Trainer is expandable to a
maximum of 3 dogs. SportDOG® Add-A-Dog® Collar Receivers must
be purchased. Please refer to the back cover for a list of compatible
Collar Receivers.
Can I use the SportTrainer® SD-1225E
Remote Trainer on aggressive dogs?
We do not recommend any of our products to be used on aggressive dogs.
We recommend you contact your local veterinarian or professional trainer
to determine if your dog might be aggressive.
Will I get exactly 1200 m of range with the
SportTrainer® SD-1225E Remote Trainer?
The range you get with your SportTrainer® SD-1225E Remote Trainer will
vary according to terrain, weather, and vegetation as well as transmission
from other radio devices. To get the maximum amount of range, please
refer to “How the System Works” section of this guide.
How long can I continuously deliver
stimulation to my dog?
The maximum amount of time you can press the Continuous Static
Stimulation Button and deliver static stimulation to your dog continuously
is 10 seconds. The maximum amount of time you can press the Vibration
Button and deliver vibration stimulation continuously is 10 seconds. The
maximum amount of time you can press the Tone
Button and deliver tone stimulation continuously is 10 seconds. After 10
seconds, the stimulation will “time out” and the Remote Transmitter button
needs to be released and then pressed again before additional stimulation
can be delivered.
What do I do if my dog’s neck becomes red
and irritated?
This condition is due to the Contact Points irritating the skin. Discontinue
use of the Collar Receiver for a few days. If the condition persists beyond 48
hours, see your veterinarian. Once the skin returns to normal, resume use
and monitor the skin condition closely.
The Intensity Dial seems difficult to rotate.
Is this normal?
Yes. This prevents accidental changes in intensity and encourages an
optimal waterproof seal. The knob will “break in” and be slightly easier to
turn as you use it.
Can I attach a lead to the SportTrainer®
SD-1225E Collar Receiver?
DO NOT attach a lead to the SportTrainer® SD-1225E Collar Receiver. You
may put a separate non-metallic collar on your dog’s neck and attach a
lead. Be sure the extra collar does not interfere with the Contact Points.
Can I program my SportTrainer®
SD-1225E Remote Trainer to work with my
other SportDOG® Brand systems?
Yes. You can program your SportTrainer® SD-1225E Remote Trainer to work
with the SD-425E, SD-425CAMO, SD-825E, SD-1825E, or
SD-1825CAMO systems. Because the SD-1225E operates at a different
frequency, it is not backwards compatible with any other SportDOG®
Brand systems.

My dog is not responding
when I press a button.
• Check to see if the Collar Receiver has been turned on and the Indicator
Light is flashing.
• If your range has reduced from the first time you used it, please check to see if the
battery is low in either the Remote Transmitter or Collar Receiver.
• Many factors can impact the range you have with the SportTrainer®
SD-1225E. For a list of these factors, please refer to “How the System Works”.
• You can verify the Collar Receiver is delivering static stimulation to your dog by
placing the Test Light Tool, enclosed in your kit, on the Collar Receiver. Please refer to
the “Test Light Tool Instructions” section for details.
• Increase the Intensity Dial. Refer to “Find the Best Intensity Level for Your Dog” for
more information.
• Increase the Static Stimulation Range. Refer to “Change Static Stimulation Ranges”
for more information.
• Make sure the Collar Receiver’s Contact Points are placed snugly against your dog’s
skin. Refer to “Fit the Collar Receiver” for more information.
• You may need to switch to the longer Contact Points included with your system or trim
the hair beneath the Contact Points.
• If you notice your operating time is significantly reduced from the original time, your
Collar Receiver battery needs to be replaced. Contact the Customer Care Centre to
purchase a new one.
The Collar Receiver will not
turn on.
• Make sure the Collar Receiver has been charged. The Collar Receiver will charge
in 2 hours.
The Collar Receiver is not
responding to the Remote
Transmitter.
• Make sure the Remote Transmitter has been charged. The Remote Transmitter will
charge in 2 hours.
• Verify the Collar Receiver has been turned on and the Indicator Light is flashing. Refer
to “To Turn the Collar Receiver On”.
• Refer to “Match the Collar Receiver and Remote Transmitter”.
TEST LIGHT TOOL INSTRUCTIONS
1. Turn the Collar Receiver on.
2. Hold the Test Light Tool contacts to the Contact Points.
3. Press a Stimulation Button on the Remote Transmitter.
4. The Test Light will flash.
NOTE: At higher Static Stimulation Levels, the Test Light will flash brighter.
5. Turn the Collar Receiver off.
Save the Test Light Tool for future testing.
NOTE: If the Test Light does not flash, recharge the battery and re-test. If the Test Light

This system operates on two Li-Ion battery packs (200 mAh capacity for the Collar Receiver, 500 mAh capacity for the Remote
Transmitter). Only replace with battery received from calling the Customer Care Centre. For a listing of the telephone

Separate collection of spent batteries is required in many regions; check the regulations in your area before discarding spent
batteries. Please see below for instructions on how to remove the battery from the product for separate disposal.
AT END OF PRODUCT LIFE, USE THESE BATTERY REMOVAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR FINAL DISPOSAL (DO NOT OPEN THE
COLLAR RECEIVER OR REMOTE TRANSMITTER UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED THE REPLACEMENT).

subject to normal and proper residential use, will be free from defects in material or workmanship for a period of three (3)

To file a claim, a proof of purchase must be provided. Without a proof of purchase, Radio Systems will not repair or replace
faulty components. Radio Systems requests the Consumer to contact the Radio Systems Customer Care Centre to obtain
a Warranty Return number, prior to sending the Product. Failure to do so may delay in the repair or replacement of
the Product.
If the Product is deemed to be faulty within 30 days from date of original purchase, Radio Systems will organise for a
replacement to be sent in advance of returning the faulty Product. A Post Bag will be included with the replacement Product
for the return of the faulty Product. The Product must be returned within 7 days of receiving the replacement. If the Product
is deemed to be faulty after 30 days from the date of original purchase, the consumer will be required to return the Product
to Radio Systems at the consumer’s own expense. Radio Systems will test and replace the faulty unit or its components
and return to the consumer free of charge, provided the Product is within its said warranty period. This warranty is in

• Il peut s’avérer nécessaire de couper les poils de votre chien dans zone située autour des contacteurs pour garantir un
contact homogène. Ne rasez jamais le cou de votre chien, car cela risquerait de provoquer des irritations ou une infection.
• Ne serrez pas trop fort le collier pour obtenir un bon contact. Un collier trop serré accroît le risque de nécrose cutanée
dans la zone de contact du collier.

La sécurité, le confort et l’efficacité du système de dressage SportDOG® SportTrainer® SD-1225E ont été prouvés pour
des chiens de plus de 3,6 kg. Une utilisation correcte et cohérente de ce produit vous permet de renforcer vos ordres et de
corriger tout comportement indésirable de votre chien dans un périmètre allant jusqu'à 1200 mètres. L'émetteur envoie un
signal activant le collier-récepteur, qui transmet une stimulation sans danger à l'animal. Grâce à un dressage adéquat, votre
chien apprendra à associer ce signal à un ordre. Comme tous les produits SportDOG®, ce modèle possède des niveaux de

ÉMETTEUR : transmet le signal radio au collier-récepteur. Il est
étanche à l'eau et peut être immergé à une profondeur de 7,6 m.
MOLETTE DE RÉGLAGE DE L'INTENSITÉ : permet de régler
différents niveaux de stimulation électrostatique afin de faire
correspondre la correction au tempérament de votre chien.
VOYANT LUMINEUX DE L'ÉMETTEUR : indique qu'un bouton est
enfoncé et sert également de voyant de batterie faible.
BOUTON DU HAUT : ce bouton est réglé en usine pour fournir
une stimulation électrostatique continue.
BOUTON DU BAS : ce bouton est réglé en usine pour fournir une
stimulation électrostatique momentanée.
BOUTON LATÉRAL : ce bouton est réglé en usine pour émettre
un signal sonore sans stimulation électrostatique.
PRISE DE CHARGE : sert à connecter le chargeur. L'émetteur est
étanche, cependant, il est recommandé de maintenir le cache en
place lorsque l'appareil n'est pas en charge afin d'éviter toute
pénétration de débris.
BOUTON DE SÉLECTION DU MODE : ce bouton permet de
changer le mode de votre émetteur.
COLLIER-RÉCEPTEUR : reçoit le signal radio de l'émetteur et
envoie la stimulation électrostatique, la vibration ou un signal
sonore pour corriger ou donner un signal à votre chien. Il est
étanche à l'eau et peut être immergé à une profondeur de 7,6 m.
VOYANT LUMINEUX DU RÉCEPTEUR : indique si le
collier-récepteur est éteint ou allumé et sert de voyant de
batterie faible.
CONTACTEURS : contacteurs du collier-récepteur par lesquels
la stimulation électrostatique passe.
INTERRUPTEUR MARCHE/ARRÊT : une brève pression sur ce
bouton éteint ou allume le collier-récepteur.
LE COLLIER RÉCEPTEUR EST CAPABLE D'ENVOYER QUATRE TYPES DE STIMULATIONS :
EN CONTINU : vous pouvez contrôler le déclenchement et la durée de la stimulation électrostatique (10 secondes maximum).
Après 10 secondes, la stimulation électrostatique s’interrompt et il est nécessaire de relâcher et d’appuyer à nouveau sur le
bouton de l’émetteur avant de pouvoir envoyer une stimulation électrostatique supplémentaire.
MOMENTANÉE : la stimulation électrostatique est envoyée pendant 1/10 de seconde, indépendamment de la durée pendant
laquelle vous avez appuyé sur le bouton.
SIGNAL SONORE : le collier-récepteur émet un bref avertissement sonore lorsque vous appuyez sur le bouton signal sonore,
pendant 10 secondes au maximum.
VIBRATION (ONDE) : le collier-récepteur vibre lorsque vous appuyez sur le bouton vibration, pendant 10 secondes
au maximum.

1. Soulevez le cache en caoutchouc protégeant la prise
de charge.
2. Connectez l’un des connecteurs du chargeur à la prise
de charge.
3. Branchez le chargeur sur une prise murale ordinaire.
4. Chargez l'émetteur pendant 2 heures pour la première
charge et pour chaque charge ultérieure.
Si vous utilisez la technologie Li-Ion, le temps de charge
de l'émetteur est de 2 heures seulement. Si vous chargez
le dispositif plus longtemps, cela ne pose toutefois
pas de problème.
5. Une fois la charge terminée, replacez le cache
en caoutchouc.
REMARQUE : l'autonomie de la batterie entre les
charges est d'environ 40 à 60 heures, en fonction de la
fréquence d'utilisation.

• Ce dispositif contient une batterie au lithium-ion ; ne jamais incinérer, percer, déformer court-circuiter ou charger
avec un chargeur inadapté. Le non-respect de cet avertissement peut provoquer un incendie, une explosion, des
dégâts matériels ou des blessures corporelles.
• Risque d'explosion si la batterie est remplacée par un type de batterie inapproprié. Mettez les batteries au rebut
conformément à votre réglementation locale.
• Les batteries ne doivent jamais être extraites de leur compartiment pour être rechargées.

• Les batteries rechargeables au lithium-ion (Li-Ion) n'ont pas d'effet de mémoire ; il n'est pas nécessaire d'attendre
qu'elles soient déchargées avant de les recharger et elles ne peuvent pas être chargées de manière excessive.
• Les batteries sont partiellement chargées en usine, mais vous devez néanmoins les charger complètement avant la
première utilisation.
• Lorsque vous n'utilisez pas l'unité pendant de longues périodes, rechargez complètement les batteries de manière
régulière. Une recharge complète doit être effectuée une fois tous les 3 à 4 mois.
• Les batteries peuvent être rechargées des centaines de fois. Cependant, toutes les batteries rechargeables perdent de
leur autonomie avec le temps et avec le nombre de recharges effectuées. Ceci est normal. Si l'autonomie de la batterie
diminue de moitié par rapport à la durée initiale, contactez le service clientèle pour acheter une nouvelle batterie.
• Les batteries ont une durée de vie de 3 à 5 ans. Lorsqu'une batterie doit être remplacée, vous pouvez commander un
nouveau bloc batterie en appelant notre service clientèle. Pour consulter la liste des numéros de téléphone dans votre

AJUSTEMENT DU COLLIERRÉCEPTEUR
IMPORTANT : un ajustement et un positionnement adaptés du collier-récepteur sont importants pour un dressage efficace.
Les contacteurs doivent être en contact direct avec la peau de votre chien.
Consultez la page 21 pour obtenir des informations importantes sur la sécurité.
Pour que le collier soit bien ajusté, veuillez suivre les étapes ci-dessous :
1. Avec votre chien en position debout (3A), centrez
le collier-récepteur pour que les contacteurs
soient sous le cou du chien et pour qu'ils lui
touchent la peau (3B). Si votre chien a le poil
long ou épais, vous pouvez utiliser l’une des deux
méthodes suivantes pour garantir un contact
homogène : couper le poil autour des contacteurs
ou placer les contacteurs plus longs qui sont
fournis avec votre système.
• Vous devrez peut-être couper le poil dans la zone des contacteurs. Ne rasez jamais le cou de votre chien, car cela
risquerait de provoquer des irritations ou une infection.
• Ne serrez pas trop fort le collier pour obtenir un bon contact. Un collier trop serré accroît le risque de nécrose cutanée
dans la zone de contact du collier.
2. Le collier-récepteur doit être bien serré, mais il faut néanmoins pouvoir
passer un doigt entre le collier et le cou du chien (3C).
3. Laissez votre chien porter le collier pendant quelques minutes, puis contrôlez à
nouveau l'ajustement. Une fois que votre chien s'est habitué au collier-récepteur,
vérifiez encore s'il est bien ajusté.

TROUVER LE MEILLEUR NIVEAU D'INTENSITÉ POUR VOTRE CHIEN
Le système de dressage SportTrainer® SD-1225E dispose de plusieurs niveaux d'intensité. Ceci vous permet de choisir la
stimulation électrostatique convenant le mieux à votre chien.
REMARQUE : commencez toujours par le niveau le plus bas avant d'augmenter progressivement.
Pour que le dressage soit efficace, il est important de trouver le niveau d’intensité approprié à votre chien. Ce niveau est
appelé le « niveau de reconnaissance », lorsque votre chien regarde autour de lui d'un air surpris ou lorsqu'il se gratte
les oreilles.
POUR RECHERCHER LE NIVEAU DE RECONNAISSANCE DE VOTRE CHIEN
REMARQUE : tous les chiens sont différents, vous ne pouvez pas prédire quel sera le niveau de reconnaissance du
vôtre. Observez attentivement ses changements comportementaux afin de savoir comment votre chien réagit à la
stimulation électrostatique.
1. En veillant à ce que le collier-récepteur soit bien allumé et ajusté au cou de votre chien, réglez la molette de réglage
de l’intensité de l'émetteur sur le niveau 1 et appuyez sur le bouton de la stimulation électrostatique continue
pendant 1 à 2 secondes.
2. Si votre chien ne réagit pas au niveau 1, passez au niveau 2 et renouvelez l'opération.

AVANT DE RENOUVELER L'OPÉRATION.
4. Une fois que vous avez trouvé le niveau de reconnaissance de votre chien, utilisez ce niveau au moment de commencer un
exercice de dressage.
5. Si vous êtes allé jusqu'au niveau 8 pendant la recherche du niveau de reconnaissance et que votre chien ne réagit toujours pas,
vérifiez que le collier-récepteur touche bien son cou. Revenez ensuite au niveau d'intensité 1 et renouvelez l'opération. Si votre
chien ne réagit toujours pas à la stimulation électrostatique, vous avez trois solutions : couper le poil sous les contacteurs,
placer les contacteurs plus longs fournis avec votre système ou changer de plage de stimulation électrostatique.
Si, malgré toutes ces étapes, votre chien ne montre aucune réaction à la stimulation électrostatique, veuillez contacter notre
service clientèle.
CHANGEMENT DES PLAGES DE STIMULATION ÉLECTROSTATIQUE
Le collier-récepteur SportTrainer® SD-1225E dispose de 3 plages de stimulation électrostatique (faible, moyenne et forte).
Chaque plage comporte 8 niveaux de stimulation électrostatique, le niveau 1 étant le niveau le plus faible et le niveau 8 le
plus fort. La plage 2 (intensité moyenne) est la plage par défaut.
Pour changer de plage de stimulation électrostatique, suivez ces étapes :
1. Vérifiez que le collier-récepteur est éteint.
2. Mettez l'unité en marche en appuyant brièvement sur l'interrupteur marche/arrêt.
3. Dans les 5 secondes après que le voyant lumineux s'est éteint, appuyez sur l'interrupteur marche/arrêt
pendant 3 secondes.
4. Le collier-récepteur émet alors un signal sonore et le voyant lumineux clignote en orange. Ceci indique que la plage
de stimulation électrostatique faible est sélectionnée. Pour sélectionner la plage moyenne ou forte, maintenez
l’interrupteur marche/arrêt enfoncé jusqu’à ce que le nombre d’avertisseurs sonores/clignotements oranges
correspondent à la plage de stimulation voulue, tel que le présente le schéma ci-dessous.
5. Relâchez l'interrupteur marche/arrêt une fois que vous avez sélectionné la plage ; le collier-récepteur va
alors s'éteindre.
6. Remettez l'unité en marche. L'unité émet un nombre de bips correspondant à la plage de stimulation électrostatique
sélectionnée à l'étape 4.

AVANT DE DRESSER VOTRE CHIEN AVEC CE PRODUIT
Pour que l'utilisation de ce produit soit un succès, souvenez-vous de toujours apprendre l'ordre à votre chien avant d'essayer
de l'inculquer à l'aide du système de dressage. Gardez à l’esprit les conseils de dressage suivants :
• Éliminez un seul comportement gênant et enseignez un seul ordre à la fois. Si vous allez trop vite dans le dressage, votre
chien risque de ne pas comprendre.
• Soyez cohérent. Envoyez-lui une stimulation électrostatique, sonore, ou par vibration à chaque fois qu'il se
comporte mal.
• Ne corrigez pas votre chien de manière excessive. Utilisez les stimulations le moins souvent possible pour dresser
votre chien.
• Évitez que votre chien ne se trouve dans des situations ayant déjà provoqué des comportements gênants chez lui, à
moins que vous ne puissiez le surveiller et utiliser le système de dressage SportTrainer® SD-1225E pour lui envoyer une
stimulation électrostatique; sonore ou par vibration.
• Si vous repérez une situation provoquant inévitablement un comportement gênant chez votre chien, recréez-la pour
vos séances de dressage. Vous augmenterez ainsi considérablement vos chances Si votre chien réagit avec crainte à un
signal sonore, à une stimulation électrostatique, sonore ou par vibration (tout spécialement les deux premières fois), ne
vous inquiétez pas. La meilleure réponse à apporter est de rediriger son attention sur un ordre simple et approprié (par
exemple, « Assis »).
• N'utilisez jamais le système de dressage SportTrainer® SD-1225E pour corriger ou éliminer un comportement agressif. Si
votre chien a un tempérament agressif, contactez un dresseur professionnel. L'agressivité découle de nombreux facteurs
chez les chiens. Il peut s'agir d'un comportement acquis ou d'une réaction de peur. Un autre facteur pouvant se traduire
par l’agressivité est la domination sociale. Chaque chien est différent.

PROGRAMMATION DE L'ÉMETTEUR
L'émetteur SportTrainer® SD-1225E dispose de sept modes opérationnels pour vous permettre de sélectionner le mode le
mieux adapté à votre style de dressage. L'émetteur est réglé par défaut sur le mode 1.
POUR CHANGER DE MODE
1. En vous reportant au tableau suivant, réglez la molette de réglage
de l’intensité au mode souhaité.
2. Retournez l’émetteur
(retirez le clip de ceinture s’il est attaché).
3. À l'aide d'un stylo ou de la dent de la boucle de l'attache de votre
collier, appuyez brièvement sur le bouton de sélection du mode.
Lorsque vous appuyez sur le bouton de sélection du mode, le voyant
lumineux de l'émetteur s'allume en continu. Lorsque vous relâchez
le bouton, il clignotera autant de fois que le mode sélectionné.

COUPLAGE DE L’ÉMETTEUR ET DU COLLIERRÉCEPTEUR
Pour coupler le collier-récepteur afin qu’il puisse fonctionner avec un nouvel émetteur ou pour coupler un nouveau collier-
récepteur afin qu’il fonctionne avec votre émetteur actuel, procédez comme suit :
1. Éteignez le collier-récepteur.
2. Appuyez sur l'interrupteur marche/arrêt et maintenez-le enfoncé. Le voyant lumineux du récepteur s'allume puis
s'éteint après 5 à 6 secondes. Si vous relâchez l'interrupteur marche/arrêt trop tôt, le voyant lumineux du récepteur
commencera à clignoter comme d'habitude. Dans ce cas, recommencez l'opération depuis l'étape 1.
3. Une fois que le voyant lumineux du récepteur s'est éteint, relâchez l'interrupteur marche/arrêt.
4. Appuyez sur le bouton du haut de l'émetteur et maintenez-le enfoncé jusqu'à ce que le voyant lumineux du récepteur
clignotent 5 fois. Pour ce faire, il vous faudra peut-être tenir les 2 éléments du système distants de 60 cm ou 90 cm. Une
fois que le voyant lumineux du récepteur a clignoté 5 fois, le Collier-récepteur a été couplé et commencera a clignoter
normalement. Si le voyant lumineux du récepteur ne clignote pas 5 fois, recommencez depuis l'étape 1.

Il faut acheter un ou plusieurs colliers-récepteurs SportDOG® Add-A-Dog® supplémentaires pour dresser d’autres chiens.
Veuillez consulter la quatrième de couverture pour la liste des colliers-récepteurs Add-A-Dog®
supplémentaires compatibles.
1. Programmer l'émetteur sur le mode 7 (voir ÉTAPE 05).
2. Programmez le premier collier-récepteur.
A. Mettez le collier-récepteur hors tension.
B. Appuyez sur l'interrupteur marche/arrêt et maintenez-le enfoncé. Le voyant lumineux du récepteur s'allume puis
s'éteint après 4 à 5 secondes. Si vous relâchez l'interrupteur marche/arrêt trop tôt, le voyant lumineux du récepteur
commencera à clignoter comme d'habitude. Dans ce cas, recommencez l'opération depuis l'étape A.
C. Une fois que le voyant lumineux du récepteur s'est éteint, relâchez l'interrupteur marche/arrêt.
D. Appuyez sur le bouton du haut de l'émetteur et maintenez-le enfoncé jusqu'à ce que le voyant lumineux du récepteur
clignote 5 fois. Pour ce faire, il vous faudra peut-être tenir les 2 éléments du système distants de 60 cm ou 90 cm. Si le
voyant lumineux du récepteur ne clignote pas 5 fois, recommencez depuis l'étape A.
3. Programmez le deuxième collier-récepteur en suivant les étapes de A à D décrites ci-dessus, mais en utilisant le bouton
du bas au lieu du bouton du haut.
4. Programmez le troisième collier-récepteur en suivant les étapes de A à D décrites ci-dessus, mais en utilisant le bouton
latéral au lieu du bouton du haut.

La stimulation électrostatique est-elle
sans danger pour mon chien ?
Même si la stimulation électrostatique continue et/ou momentanée peut
être désagréable, elle est sans danger pour votre chien. Les systèmes de
dressage électroniques requièrent une interaction et une implication du
propriétaire dans l’éducation du chien pour obtenir les résultats escomptés.
Quel âge doit avoir mon chien avant
d'utiliser le système de dressage
SportTrainer® SD-1225E ?
Votre chien doit être capable d'apprendre les ordres de base, comme « Assis
» et « Pas bouger ». Ce système ne doit être utilisé qu’avec des chiens
âgés de plus de 6 mois. Le collier-récepteur peut être trop gros pour les
chiens pesant moins de 3,6 kg. Si votre animal est blessé ou éprouve des
difficultés à se déplacer, veuillez contacter votre vétérinaire ou un dresseur
professionnel avant toute utilisation.
Une fois que mon chien est dressé et qu'il
obéit à mes ordres, doit-il continuer à
porter le collier-récepteur ?
Parfois, il devra peut-être porter à nouveau le collier-récepteur pour
renforcer le dressage. De nombreux chasseurs utilisent le collier-récepteur
pour contrôler au maximum leurs chiens durant la chasse.
Le collier-récepteur est-il étanche ? Oui. Si le bloc de batteries rechargeables doit un jour être remplacé,
veillez à ce que le joint torique et sa rainure ne comportent pas de saletés
ni de débris.
Est-il possible d'utiliser le collier-
récepteur à proximité de la mer ?
Oui. Si le collier-récepteur est utilisé dans ou à proximité de l'eau salée, il
est nécessaire de le rincer avec de l'eau claire après chaque utilisation.
Est-il possible d'utiliser le système de

plusieurs chiens ?

La portée de votre système de dressage SportTrainer® SD-1225E dépend du
terrain, du temps, de la végétation et des transmissions d'autres appareils
radios. Pour avoir la meilleure portée possible, consultez la section
« Fonctionnement du système » de ce manuel.
Pendant combien de temps puis-je
administrer une stimulation en continu à
mon chien ?
Le délai maximum d’activation du bouton de stimulation électrostatique
continue et d’envoi d’une stimulation électrostatique continue à votre chien
est de 10 secondes. Le délai maximum d’activation du bouton de stimulation
par vibration et d’envoi d’une stimulation par vibration continue à votre
chien est de 10 secondes. Le délai maximum d’activation du bouton de
signal sonore et d’envoi d’une stimulation sonore continue à votre chien
est de 10 secondes. Après 10 secondes, la stimulation s’interrompt et il est
nécessaire de relâcher et d’appuyer à nouveau sur le bouton de l’émetteur
avant de pouvoir envoyer une stimulation supplémentaire.
Que dois-je faire si le cou de mon chien
devient rouge et irrité ?
Ce problème provient d’une irritation provoquée par les contacteurs.
Arrêtez d'utiliser le collier-récepteur pendant quelques jours. Si l’irritation
persiste au-delà de 48 heures, consultez votre vétérinaire. Lorsque
l’irritation a disparu, recommencez à utiliser le dispositif et contrôlez de
près la peau de votre chien.
La molette de réglage de l’intensité a du
mal à tourner. Est-ce normal ?
Oui. Ceci empêche des modifications accidentelles de l'intensité et
permet une étanchéité optimale. Avec le temps, la molette tournera plus
facilement.
Puis-je fixer une laisse au collier-récepteur
SportTrainer® SD-1225E ?
Vous NE DEVEZ PAS attacher de laisse au collier-récepteur SportTrainer®
SD-1225E. Vous pouvez mettre un collier non métallique sur le cou de
votre chien et y attacher une laisse. Vérifiez que le collier supplémentaire
n’interfère pas avec les contacteurs.
Est-il possible de programmer le système
de dressage SportTrainer® SD-1225E pour
qu'il fonctionne avec d'autres dispositifs
SportDOG® ?
Oui. Vous pouvez programmer votre système de dressage SportTrainer®
SD-1225E de manière à ce qu'il fonctionne avec les systèmes
SD-425E, SD-425CAMO, SD-825E, SD-1825E ou SD-1825CAMO. Le système
SD-1225E fonctionnant à une fréquence différente, il n'est pas rétro-

• Vérifiez que les contacteurs du collier-récepteur sont bien contre la peau de votre

couper le poil du chien sous les contacteurs.

• Niet voor gebruik bij agressieve honden. Gebruik dit product niet wanneer uw hond agressief is, of wanneer uw hond een
neiging heeft tot agressief gedrag. Agressieve honden kunnen ernstig letsel en zelfs het overlijden van hun eigenaren
en anderen veroorzaken. Als u er niet zeker van bent of dit een goed idee is voor uw hond, neem dan contact op met uw
dierenarts of een gediplomeerd trainer.
• Dit apparaat bevat Lithium ion batterijen (Li-Ion); u mag deze nooit verbranden, doorboren, vervormen, kortsluiten
of opladen met een ongeschikte lader. Wanneer deze waarschuwing niet wordt gevolgd kan dit brand, explosies,
beschadiging van eigendommen of lichamelijk letsel tot gevolg hebben.
• Explosiegevaar als de batterijen worden vervangen door een onjuist type batterij. Gooi lege batterijen weg volgens de
regels in uw regio.
• U mag de batterijen nooit uit het batterijcompartiment verwijderen om ze op te laden.
• Er bestaat explosiegevaar als u de batterijen oplaadt in omgevingen met een hoge temperatuur (38°C).
Lees de instructies in deze handleiding door en volg deze op. Een juiste pasvorm van de halsband is belangrijk. Wanneer een
halsband te lang gedragen wordt of te strak om de nek van de hond zit, kan deze beschadiging van de huid veroorzaken. Dit
wordt een bedzweer genoemd; een andere naam is doorligwond, decubitus of druknecrose.
• Doe uw hond de halsband nooit langer dan 12 uur per dag om.
• Verander de positie van de halsband om de nek van de hond, indien mogelijk, elke 1 tot 2 uur.
• Controleer of de halsband past om overmatige druk te voorkomen; volg de instructies in deze handleiding.
• Bevestig nooit een riem aan de ontvanger halsband; dit veroorzaakt overmatige druk op de contactpunten.
• Bij gebruik van een tweede halsband voor een riem mag geen druk op de elektronische halsband worden uitgeoefend.
• Was de nek van de hond en de contactpunten van de halsband wekelijks met een vochtige doek.
• Onderzoek het contactgebied dagelijks op tekenen van uitslag of wondjes.
• Als u uitslag of wondjes ziet, stop het gebruik van de halsband tot de huid is genezen.
• Ga naar de dierenarts als de aandoening langer dan 48 uur aanhoudt.

Deze stappen zullen helpen uw hond zich veilig en comfortabel te laten voelen. Miljoenen honden ondervinden geen
problemen bij het dragen van roestvrijstalen contactpunten. Sommige honden zijn gevoelig voor de druk van de
contactpunten. Het kan zijn dat uw hond de halsband na enige tijd goed verdraagt. Als dit het geval is, kunt u deze voorzorgen
wat minder streng toepassen. Het is belangrijk dat u het contactgebied dagelijks blijft controleren. Als u roodheid of wondjes
opmerkt, stop het gebruik tot de huid volledig is genezen.
• Voor een consistent contact kan het nodig zijn om de vacht onder de contactpunten bij te knippen of de langere
contactpunten te gebruiken. Scheer de nek van de hond nooit; dit kan leiden tot uitslag of infectie.
• De halsband mag niet strakker worden gemaakt dan nodig voor een goed contact. Bij een te strakke halsband is het risico
op druknecrose in het contactgebied groter.

Er is aangetoond dat de SportDOG® SportTrainer® SD-1225E Trainer met afstandsbediening veilig, comfortabel en effectief
is voor alle honden die meer wegen dan 3,6 kg. Door dit product consistent en correct te gebruiken, kunt u commando's
versterken en misdragingen corrigeren tot een afstand van maximaal 1200 m. De afstandsbediening stuurt een signaal dat
