Read these Instructions before use! fits Nespresso fits Nespresso Coffeeduck Espresso-cup fits Nespresso The Coffeeduck Espresso cup is a refillable cup for using loose espresso coffee in your Nespresso coffee maker. This way, you can enjoy your favourite espresso blend in an economical and environmentally friendly way. The Coffeeduck Espresso cup fits into the Nespresso coffee maker and, provided you follow these instructions correctly, will result in a delicious cup of espresso with a frothy head. The espresso blend used MUST have a fine, evenly ground texture, i.e. the granules must all be of the same size. The ground coffee must also be roasted for espresso. We recommend talking to your coffee retailer about the best coffee to use. It takes a little practice to learn to fill the cups, but it’s a skill that’s easy to learn. Once you have gotten the hang of it after trying it a few times, you will be amazed by the results. Before using the Coffeeduck Espresso cup: • Check to make sure your Nespresso coffee maker is clean and in good working condition. • Clean the Coffeeduck Espresso cup with soap and water and dry it off thoroughly. • If possible, store the espresso coffee in a shallow container to make it easier to fill the cup. How to use the Coffeeduck Espresso cup: • Scoop out the ground coffee with the cup and press the cup (using slight pressure) against the inside of the container to make sure it is filled completely. Alternatively, fill the cup using a teaspoon. Always fill it completely to the top edge. • Push the ground coffee down into the cup. Please note: pushing too hard can cause the ground coffee to become too compact, while pushing them too gently will result in an extremely weak cup of coffee. You will have to develop a feel for how much pressure is just right. • Close the Espresso cup. • Insert the cup into the Nespresso and make sure the edge of the cover is pointing upward. • Close the Nespresso coffee maker. • Press the 1-cup button and check to make sure the coffee is pouring out evenly. After using the Coffeeduck Espresso cup: • Open the coffee maker carefully (the cup may might stick a little; if so, simply push it downwards to loosen it). • You can clean the cup immediately by rinsing it under the tap or remove the grounds later on using a teaspoon. • Make sure the inside of the cover and the bottom of the cup (filter and holes) are cleaned properly and unblocked. If necessary, use a washing-up brush for extra cleaning. Problem-solving: Cup does not release after use. 1. The rim is not pointing upwards and/or the cup is new. The cup may shrink slightly at first and will fit better after being used a number of times. Release it by hand. Cup is still hanging inside the shaft. 1. The coffee maker was opened too quickly. Do NOT try to close the machine at this point, as this will only damage the cup. Loosen the cup carefully by hand. Weak espresso. 1. Too little ground espresso coffee in the cup. Make sure the cup is always filled to the rim. If the cup is not completely full, the water will not flow through the ground coffee properly, resulting in weak coffee. 2. The coffee used was too coarsely ground. Only finely ground espresso may be used. 3. You selected the wrong amount of water, one that is not suitable for Lungo. Coffee does not flow out and machine switches itself off. 1. The ground coffee used was not evenly ground and/or it was pressed down too hard. The machine always switches off automatically if the ground espresso coffee is not evenly fine because the smallest granules accumulate in front of the filter, blocking the flow of water. Tips: • Also try using powdered chocolate, loose leaf tea or instant coffee in the Coffeeduck Espresso cup. • Try making a ristretto using a shorter brew time. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! De Coffeeduck Espresso-cup is een hervulbare cup voor losse espresso koffie in uw eigen Nespresso apparaat. Zo kunt u genieten van uw eigen koffiesmaak op een zeer voordelige en duurzame manier. De Coffeeduck Espresso-cup past in het Nespresso apparaat en geeft u een uitstekende smaak en cremekraag mits u de Espresso-Cup gebruikt volgens deze handleiding. Het espresso-koffiemelange MOET een constante fijne maling hebben, dat wil zeggen dat alle korrels dezelfde grootte hebben. Tevens moet de koffie volgens de espresso methode gebrand zijn. Wij raden u aan deze informatie met uw koffiespecialist te bespreken. Het vullen van de cupjes dient enige handigheid, maar dat heeft u snel geleerd. Als u na een paar keer proberen eenmaal de slag te pakken heeft, zult u versteld staan van het resultaat. Voor het gebruik van de Coffeeduck Espresso-cup: • Controleer of uw Nespresso apparaat schoon is en in goede staat verkeert. • Reinig de Coffeeduck Espresso-cup met water en zeep, en maak hem vervolgens droog. • Zorg bij voorkeur dat de espresso koffie die u wilt gebruiken in een ondiepe bewaarbus zit, zodat u de cup makkelijk kan vullen. Hoe gebruikt u de Coffeeduck Espresso-cup: • Haal de cup door de koffie en druk hem matig en/ of hard tegen de binnenkant van uw bewaarbus om hem helemaal te vullen of vul de cup met een theelepeltje. Altijd helemaal vullen tot de rand. • Druk de koffie in de cup aan. Let op: te hard aandrukken kan leiden tot het dichtslaan van de koffie, terwijl te zacht aandrukken zal leiden tot een bijzonder slappe kop koffie. U zult hiervoor enige feeling moeten ontwikkelen. • Sluit de Espresso-Cup. • Plaats de cup in de Nespresso en zorg dat het sluitlipje van het deksel altijd naar boven wijst. • Sluit het Nespresso apparaat. • Druk op de 1 kops knop en controleer of de koffie goed doorloopt. Na gebruik van de Coffeeduck Espresso-cup: • Open het apparaat rustig. (Het kan voorkomen dat de cup blijft hangen, dit lost u op door de cup naar beneden te drukken.) • U kunt de cup nu meteen reinigen door hem uit te spoelen onder de kraan of u doet dit later door met een theelepeltje de koffie verwijderen. • Zorg ervoor dat de binnenzijde van het deksel en de onderkant van de cup (filter en gaatjes) goed gereinigd worden en altijd open zijn, reinig deze eventueel extra met een afwasborstel. Oplossingen bij eventuele gebruiksproblemen: Cup valt na gebruik niet door. 1. het lipje wijst niet naar boven en/of cup is nieuw.  De cup krimpt nog een beetje en zal beter passen na enkele malen gebruik. Druk hem handmatig door. Cup blijft hangen in de schacht. 1. A  pparaat te snel geopend. Probeer het apparaat zeker NIET te sluiten, hiermee beschadigt u de cup.  Maak de cup met de hand voorzichtig los. Slappe espresso. 1. T e weinig espresso koffie in de cup, zorg er voor dat de cup altijd volledig gevuld is. Bij niet volledig vullen van de cup zal het water niet volledig door de koffie lopen. Wat uiteraard leidt tot slappe koffie. 2. T e grof gemalen koffie gebruikt, alleen geschikt voor constant gemalen espresso koffie. 3. U  heeft de verkeerde waterhoeveelheid geselecteerd, niet geschikt voor Lungo. Koffie loopt niet door, apparaat slaat af. 1. G  een constante maling gebruikt en/of de koffie te hard aangedrukt. Apparaat slaat altijd af bij niet constant gemalen espresso koffie, omdat de kleinste koffiedeeltjes zich verzamelen voor de filter, waardoor het water niet door kan lopen. Tips: • Probeer ook eens chocoladepoeder, losse thee of oploskoffie in de Coffeeduck espresso-cup. • Maak eens een ristretto d.m.v. een verkorte doorlooptijd, AANRADER!
