GALVANIC ISOLATOR ( GB )
ZSW32 (32A) & ZSW64 (64A) & ZSW130 ( 130 amps )
110V / 220V AC
The boat's earth and their immersed metal bonding system
should be connected to the shore power’s electrical safety
earth (yellow/green or earth cable UK / Green USA). The
galvanic isolator (zinc saver) maintains this safety connection
required by the CE standards while breaking the galvanic
connection between your boat and the dock and your boat and
other boats that share the same earth wire. It reduces the use of
your zinc anodes by only allowing them to protect and be
consumed by your boat. It prevents stray electrics or demands
from neighboring boats / pontoons / docks to be satisfied at the
expensive of your anodes.
INSTALLATION
Mount the galvanic isolator between the earth wire of the shore
power inlet and the metal bonding of your boat. There is no
directional flow and any galvanic current is stopped in both
directions. It does not matter which stud goes towards the
shore cord inlet or the earth wire bus. Before connecting the
galvanic isolator in line on the boat's earth wire, check visually
or with a continuity meter that there are no other paths for the
earth wire to reach the bonding system on the shore side of the
galvanic isolator. After the installation please check that there is
no earth loop around the galvanic isolator: Disconnect one side
of the isolator. With your digital multi-meter on ohms, place one
probe on the wires that was disconnected. Place the other on
the side where the isolator is still connected. There should be
no continuity.
TEST YOUR GALVANIC ISOLATOR
Disconnect the shore power.
With your digital multi-meter on DIODE CHECK, read across inputs
of the isolator. Readings will be in the 800/900 range (depending on
meter). Crossing your hands measure the opposite way. Readings
should be about the same (+/- 10%).
If you get full continuity (000), disconnect one wire from the
isolator and read again. If it reads full continuity, your earth cable is
incorrectly wired, by-passing your isolator. You must find the
problem in the wiring to avoid any galvanic flow.
Fan test: Recommended routine maintenance and inspection:
Under normal operation conditions this product runs cold with no
LEDS on and no fan movement, only in the event of a major short
circuit fault where the unit is passing in excess of 15 amps up to 64
amps (depending on the product rating) does the fan work, it is
estimated that 99.999% of these products will never activate the fan
in their life time. However, to ensure the fan works when required it
is recommended to do the following: Safety Check
1) Every year remove the lid and with a match stick or other tool
ensure the fan spins freely, if not replace it. For normal installation
this should not be a problem.
2) Every 3 years remove the fan and connect to 12V DC to ensure
the fan is operating.
3) If on your yearly inspection there is evidence of high levels of
water damage or the box has been engulfed or submerged in water
then it would be wise to simply replace the fan. The fan is a
standard 40 mm 12V D/C fan, full information is on a label on the fan
itself, these should be easily located in your area, if in doubt
