Informationen zum Vorbild:
Er war der Paradezug der frühen Deutschen Bundesbahn
und stand ihr bereits während des Sommerfahrplans 1952
in fünf Garnituren zur Verfügung. Die Überlegungen zur
Neuentwicklung von Diesel-Triebfahrzeugen mit hydrau-
lischer Kraftübertragung hatten schon bis zur Gründung
der Deutschen Bundesbahn zurückgereicht. So entstan-
den bis 1953 für den hochwertigen Fern-Schnellverkehr
im Rahmen des Neubauprogramms 13 dreiteilige Züge.
Bei einer Leistung von 800 PS erreichte der VT 08 eine
Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 140 km/h.
Die modernen und komfortablen VT 08 repräsentier-
ten das Aushängeschild der jungen Bundesbahn und
erfreuten sich bei den Reisenden großer Beliebtheit. Die
glatt gerundete Form der Zugenden führte schnell zum
Spitznamen „Eierkopf”. Die luxuriösen Züge bedien-
ten Langstrecken-Kurse mit so klingenden Namen wie
„Rheinblitz”, „Münchner Kindl”, „Roland”, „Schauinsland”
oder „Saphir”. Darüber hinaus waren die schnellen Züge
aber auch auf ausländischen Routen unterwegs wie
etwa „Paris-Ruhr” (Dortmund-Paris) sowie „Helvetia”
(Hamburg-Zürich).
Den zweifellos spektakulärsten Einsatz eines VT 08-
Triebwagenzuges bildete die Rückfahrt der Deutschen
Fußballnationalmannschaft nach der gewonnenen
Weltmeisterschaft 1954 in Bern in diesem komfortablen
Triebwagen-Sonderzug. Der Mittelwagen war eigens zu
diesem Anlass mit dem Schriftzug
„FUSSBALL-WELTMEISTER 1954“ versehen worden.
Information about the Prototype:
It was the flagship train of the early German Federal Rail-
road, and five sets of this train were available for service
as early as the summer schedule of 1952. Thoughts about
developing new diesel powered rail cars with hydraulic
power transmission went back to the founding of the Ger-
man Federal Railroad. The result by 1953 was 13 three-
unit trains for important long distance service as part of a
new construction program. The VT 08 had a power output
of 800 horsepower and reached a maximum speed of
140 km/h / 88 mph. The modern, comfortable VT 08
trains were a showcase for the new German Federal
Railroad and enjoyed great popularity with passengers.
The smoothly rounded shape quickly led to the nickname
„Egg Head“. These luxurious trains served on long
distance routes with euphonious names such as „Rhe-
inblitz“, „Münchner Kindl“, „Roland“, „Schauinsland“,
or „Saphir“. In addition, these fast trains were also used
on foreign routes such as the „Paris-Ruhr“ (Dortmund to
Paris) as well as the „Helvetia“ (Hamburg to Zürich).
Undoubtedly the most spectacular use of a VT 08
powered rail car train was the return trip of the German
national soccer team in this comfortable, special powered
rail car train after winning the World Soccer Cup in 1954
in Bern. The intermediate car was specially decorated on
the sides for this occasion with the printing „FUSSBALL-
WELTMEISTER 1954“ (WORLD SOCCER CHAMPIONS
OF 1954“).

Informations relatives au modèle réel :
C’était le train de parade de la jeune Deutsche Bundes-
bahn qui, pour l’horaire d’été 1952, disposait déjà de 5
de ces rames. Les réflexions relatives à la conception
d’engins moteurs diesel à transmission hydraulique re-
montaient déjà à la création de la Deutsche Bundesbahn.
Jusqu’en 1953 furent ainsi construits 13 trains à trois
éléments pour le service grandes lignes haut de gamme
dans le cadre du programme de constructions nouvelles.
Avec une puissance de 800 ch, le VT 08 atteignait une
vitesse maximale de 140 km/h. Les VT 08 modernes et
confortables, devenus l‘enseigne de la jeune Bundes-
bahn, étaient très appréciées des voyageurs. L’extrémité
lisse et arrondie du train lui valut bientôt le surnom de
« tête d’œuf ». Les trains luxueux aux noms évocateurs
tels que « Rheinblitz », « Münchner Kindl », « Roland », «
Schauinsland » ou « Saphir » étaient affectés au service
de grandes lignes. Ces trains rapides circulaient en outre
également sur des lignes étrangères, par exemple « Paris-
Ruhr » (Dortmund-Paris) et « Helvetica » (Hambourg-Zu-
rich).
L’utilisation la plus spectaculaire d’un train automoteur
VT 08 fut sans aucun doute le retour dans ce confortable
train spécial de l‘équipe nationale de football allemande
après sa victoire à Berne en 1954 lors de la coupe du
monde. Pour l’occasion, la voiture intermédiaire avait tout
spécialement été ornée de l’inscription
«FUSSBALL-WELTMEISTER 1954»,
(«COUPE DU MONDE DE FOOTBALL 1954»).

was geliefd bij de reizigers. De gladde ronde vorm van de
frontpartijen van het treinstel gaf hem al snel de bijnaam
”Eierkopf” (eierkop). De luxueuze treinen kregen voor de
lange-traject diensten klinkende namen als ”Rheinblitz”,
”München Kindl”, ”Roland”, ”Schauinsland” of ”Saphir”.
De snelle treinen waren daarnaast ook onderweg op de
routes naar het buitenland, zoals ”Paris-Ruhr” (Dortmund
- Paris) en ”Helvetia” (Hamburg - Zürich).
Het meest spectaculair was het inzetten van het VT
08-treinstel voor de terugreis van het Duitse nationale
voetbalelftal na het winnen van het wereldkampioenschap
1954 in Bern. Het middelste rijtuig van deze comforta-
bele - extra trein- was speciaal hiervoor voorzien van het
opschrift ”FUSSBALL-WELTMEISTER 1954“.

Einhaken kommen.

sind nachfolgend beschrieben. Für Reparaturen oder

Safety Warnings
• This locomotive is to be used only with an operating

an input voltage of 220 volts be used for the 110 volts
system in North America.
• This locomotive must never be supplied with power
from more than one transformer.

Operating Information
• Minimum radius required for operation:
360 mm / 14-3/16”.
• There is no provision on the ends of the train for coup-
lers, not even when using other makes of couplers!
• There can be no change in grade on curves or right
after a curve.
• Maximum change in grade between two sections of
track: 1 percent. Minimum length in the track before the
next change in the grade: 180 mm / 7-3/32”.
• Minimum spacing between adapter tracks (C to K,
C to M, etc.) and curves: 180 mm / 7-3/32”.
• Motor coach not suited for driving over curved ramp pi-
eces (7267, 74613) with a radius of 360 mm / 14-3/16”,
as there is a risk of brushing against the guard rail or
even getting caught.
The maintenance work necessary with normal operation
of this locomotive is described below. Please see your
authorized Märklin dealer for repairs or spare parts.
No warranty or damage claims shall be accepted in those cases
where parts neither manufactured nor approved by Märklin have

Bedrijfsaanwijzingen

Het treinstel is niet geschikt voor het berijden van gebo-
gen opritten (7267, 74613) met radius 360 mm. Het kan in
aanraking komen met het hekwerk of hierin blijven haken.
De in het normale bedrijf voorkomende onderhoudswerk-
zaamheden zijn verderop beschreven. Voor reparatie of
onderdelen kunt u zich tot uw Märklin winkelier wenden.
Elke aanspraak op garantie en schadevergoeding is uitgesloten,
wanneer in Märklin-producten niet door Märklin vrijgegeven vreem-
de onderdelen ingebouwd en / of Märklin-producten omgebouwd
worden en de ingebouwde vreemde onderdelen resp. de ombouw
oorzaak van nadien opgetreden defecten en / of schade was. De

Indicaciones de funcionamiento
• Circula en curvas con un radio mínimo de 360 mm.
• ¡No se pueden colocar enganches en los extremos del
automotor. Tampoco usando otros tipos de enganche!
• No se pueden modificar las pendientes en curvas o a la
salida de curvas.
• Máxima pendiente entre dos tramos de vía: un 1 por
ciento. Longitud mínima hasta un cambio de la pen-
diente: 180 mm.
• Distancia mínima entre tramos de transición (de vía C a
vía K, de C a vía M, etc.) y curvas: 180 mm.
• Automotor no apto para circular por tramos de rampa
con curva (7267, 74613) con un radio de 360 mm. Po-
dría llegar a rozar la barandilla o incluso engancharse.
Se puede colocar posteriormente el kit de humo.Los
trabajos de mantenimiento normales están descritos a
continuación. Para reparaciones o recambios contacte
con su proveedor Märklin especializado.
Se excluye todo derecho de garantía, prestación de garantía e

Avvertenze per la sicurezza
• Tale locomotiva deve essere impiegata soltanto con un
sistema di funzionamento adeguato per questa (tras-
formatore per corrente alternata Märklin 6647, Märklin
Delta, Märklin Digital oppure Märklin Systems). Non si
impieghino mai per USA, a 110 V, i trasformatori per
una tensione di ingresso di 220 V
• La locomotiva non deve venire alimentata nello stesso
tempo con più di una sorgente di potenza.
• Vogliate prestare assolutamente attenzione alle avver-
tenze di sicurezza nelle istruzioni di impiego per il Vostro
sistema di funzionamento.
Avvertenze di funzionamento
• Raggio minimo percorribile: 360 mm.
• Nessuna possibilità di accoppiamento alle estremità del
treno, anche in caso di impiego di altri agganci!
• Nessuna variazione della pendenza nelle curve o diret-
tamente dopo.
• Massima variazione della pendenza tra due binari:
1 per cento. Tratta minima sino alla prossima variazione
della pendenza: 180 mm.
• Distanza minima tra binari di transizione (C verso K,
C verso M ecc.) e le curve: 180 mm.
• Locomotiva non adatta per il passaggio su elementi a
rampa curvi (7267, 74613) con raggio di 360 mm. Si
potrebbe determinare uno sfregamento con il parapetto
oppure un incaglio.
Le operazioni di manutenzione che si verificano nel
normale funzionamento sono descritte nel seguito. Per
riparazioni o parti di ricambio Vi preghiamo di rivolgerVi al
Vostro rivenditore specialista Märklin.

Driftråd
• Minsta körbara radie: 360 mm.

• Ingen stigningsändring får ske i, eller direkt efter kurvor.
• Maximal stigningsändring mellan två skenor: 1 procent.
Minsta sträcka till nästa stigningsändring: 180 mm.
• Minsta avstånd mellan övergångsskenorna (C till K,
C till M etc.) och kurvor: 180 mm.
• Motorvagnen är inte lämpad för körning på böjda
brosektioner (7267, 74613) med radie 360 mm. Det kan
leda till att räcket berörs eller t.o.m. fastkrokning.

1. Voraussetzung: Aufbau wie Grafik S. 24.
Nur die zu verändernde Lok ist auf dem Gleis.
2. „Stop“- und „Go“-Taste gleichzeitig drücken,
bis „99“ in der Anzeige aufblinkt.
3. „Stop“-Taste drücken.
4. Lokadresse „80“ eingeben.
5.
Umschaltbefehl am Fahrregler halten.
Während
des Haltens die „Go“-Taste drücken.
6. Licht der Lok blinkt langsam. Wenn nicht, ab
Schritt 2 wiederholen.
7. Registernummer für den zu ändernden Para-

8. Fahrtrichtungswechsel betätigen.
9. Licht blinkt schnell

5. Hold the control knob in the reverse direction
area. While holding the control knob here,
press the „Go“ button.
6. The headlights on the locomotive will blink
slowly. If they don‘t, repeat Step 2.
7. Enter the register number for the parameter to
be changed (=> List on page 26).
8. Active the change of direction.
9. The headlights will blink rapidly.

• Set the locomotive on the track. The locomotive auto-
matically registers itself in the locomotive list.
• The locomotive will not communicate back to the
controller when:
the speed bar on the Mobile Station blinks.
the mfx symbol has a line beneath it on the Central Station.
• Taking the locomotive out of the locomotive list:
1. Remove the locomotive from the track.
2. Delete the locomotive entry.
It is not necessary to change the address.
Changing Locomotive Parameters with the
Mobile Station / Central Station
1. Select the locomotive from the locomotive list.
2. Change to the submenu “EDIT LOC”.
3. Go to the submenu „VMAX“ (maximum speed),
„ACC“ (acceleration), „DEC“ (brakes),
„VOL“ (volume) or
„RESET“ (resetting the decoder to factory default settings)

4. Enter the new value and accept it into the system.
Please note the information in the instructions for the
Mobile Station / Central Station.
The VMAX has been preset at 94% (Mobile Station) and
at 240 (Central Station) on the model in order to give
good running characteristics. Raising this value further
will not increase the speed; it will only have a negative
effect on the running characteristics.

Modification des paramètres de la loco avec la

1. Sélectionnez la loco dans la liste.
2. Allez au sous-menu „MODIF LOC“.
3. Ouvrir le sous-menu « VMAX » (vitesse maximale),
« ACC » (accélération), « DEC » (freinage),
« VOL » (volume) ou
« RESET » (réinitialisation du décodeur aux valeurs d’usine).
4. Entrez la nouvelle valeur et acceptez.
Respectez les remarques mentionnées dans l’instruction
accompagnant la Mobile Station / Central Station.
En faveur de l’une des bonnes caractéristiques de roule-
ment, la VMAX du modèle est préréglée sur 94% (Mobile
Station) ou 240 (Central Station). L’augmentation de cette
valeur n’augmentera pas la vitesse, mais risque unique-
ment d’altérer les caractéristiques de roulement.

Voor het verbeteren van de rijeigenschappen is bij het
model de maximumsnelheid op 94% (Mobile Station)
dan wel 240 (Central Station) ingesteld. Het verhogen
van deze vooringestelde waarde heeft geen invloed op
de maximumsnelheid, maar beïnvloed alleen de rijei-
genschappen negatief.

„RESET“ (Devolver decoder a configuración de fábrica).
4. Introducir el nuevo código y memorizar.
Observe las indicaciones en las instrucciones de la
Mobile Station / Central Station.
Para favorecer una de las buenas características de
marcha, en el modelo en miniatura se ha preconfigurado
la VMAX a 94% (Mobile Station) o bien 240 (Central Sta-
tion). Un aumento adicional de este valor no tendrá como
resultado un aumento de velocidad, sino que tan solo
afectará negativamente a las características de marcha.

Station) o rispettivamente 240 (Central Station). Un
ulteriore incremento di questo valore non ha come effetto
alcun incremento di velocità, bensì influenza le caratteris-
tiche di marcia solo in modo negativo.

Ytterligare höjning av detta värde ger ingen hastighetsök-
ning, utan kommer endast att negativt påverka modellens
köregenskaper.
Drift med Mobile Station / Central Station
