2. Mounting procedure
Take the cartridge out of the packaging. To avoid damage, we recommend
leaving the stylus guard on the cartridge while mounting the cartridge
onto the tonearm.
Use the screws provided to mount your Clearaudio MC cartridge
(the cartridge threads in the body comply with the metric standard for
M 2.5mm screws and have the standard spacing of 12.7mm).
Be careful not to over-tighten the screws as they may strip the
threaded holes.
Now connect the pins of your Clearaudio cartridge to the jacks of the
headshell or tonearm cable, taking care not to use too much force.
If necessary, you can use suitable precision pliers or tweezers for
assistance.
Please note the colour coding below in order to ensure the correct phase
in music playback, otherwise an audible sound deterioration would result.

We recommend the following order of assembly:
1. Mount the MC cartridge into the tonearm.
2. Connect the tonearm or turntable ground with the preamplier
ground (before plugging in the electrical power supply).
3. Plug the tonearm cable into the phono inputs of your
preamplier.
4. Turn down the volume control to a minimum position
(position 0).
5. Plug the mains power cord into your electrical power supply.
Our tip for mounting the cartridge:
Choose a bright workplace and good tools, and take your time so you can
concentrate.

3. Adjustment of the tracking force
Carefully remove the stylus guard from the cartridge by grasping it with
your thumb and fore nger and gently pulling it forward.
The correct tracking force of your cartridge can be found in the technical
data in this user manual.
Please only use these values, since if the tracking force is too light (1g
or less) the cartridge could jump out of the record groove and damage
the needle.
However, you should never set a tracking force of more than 5g as this
could cause damage to the diamond and thus to the cartridge.
In the event that it is not possible to set the optimal tracking force due
the cartridge being too light, you should use a spacer plate available from
your Clearaudio importer/dealer.
Further valuable information for the correct adjustment of your cartridge
can be found in the respective user manual of the turntable and/or
tonearm manufacturer.

4. Special instructions
• Before playing a record, please remove all dust and dirt from the
record’s surface using a quality cleaning device.
For the best results, a record cleaning machine should be used.
Ask your dealer about Clearaudio´s record cleaning machines.
• Always keep the stylus tip clean. When dirt is allowed to build up
and records are played with a dirty or clogged stylus, a buzzing noise
may be heard. Use a soft brush or a high quality cleaning brush or
Clearaudio cleaning uid (Art. No. AC003) to clean the stylus tip.
Be extremely careful and always brush only from back to front. When
using a liquid e.g. from Clearaudio or other organic cleaner, always
take care not to spill any on the cartridge body. Make sure the liquid
only contacts the stylus tip or boron cantilever. Avoid storing the
cartridge near devices with electrical transformers and motors that
can generate magnetic elds. Any demagnetization could lead to a
loss of the output voltage and thus to a distortion or deterioration
of the sound.
• Please note:
Never disconnect your tonearm cable from your pre-amplier while
your unit is still on. Please switch your pre-amplier o before
starting to disconnecting your tonearm connectors from the phono
inputs of your pre-amplier.
• Always use the original packaging when shipping the cartridge and
secure the stylus guard with a rubber band.
• If any service or repair to a Clearaudio product is necessary, please
contact your dealer / distributor.

2. Montage
Nehmen Sie den Tonabnehmer aus der Verpackung.
Zur Montage an Ihrem Tonarm empehlt es sich den Nadelschutz auf dem
Tonabnehmer zu belassen, um Beschädigungen zu vermeiden.
Montieren Sie mit Hilfe der beiliegenden Schrauben Ihren clearaudio
MC Tonabnehmer. (Die Aufnahmegewinde im Tonabnehmergehäuse
entsprechen der metrischen Norm für M 2,5 mm Schrauben und weisen
den international genormten Abstand von 12,7 mm auf.)
Achten Sie darauf, die Schrauben niemals zu fest anzudrehen,
da diese sich in den Gewindelöchern verklemmen oder ausreisen
können.
Verbinden Sie nun ohne große Krafteinwirkung die Anschlussstifte Ihres
clearaudio Tonabnehmers mit den Buchsen des Headshell- oder Tonarm-
Kabels. Falls nötig können Sie eine geeignete Präzisionszange oder
Pinzette zur Hilfestellung verwenden.
Beachten Sie dabei unbedingt die vorgegebenen Farbcodierungen.
Nur dann ist die absolute Phase bei der Musikwiedergabe korrekt,
andernfalls wäre eine deutlich hörbare Klangverschlechterung die Folge.

Wir empfehlen folgende Reihenfolge bei der Montage:
1. Tonabnehmer im Tonarm einbauen und anschließen.
2. Masseverbindung zwischen Plattenspieler bzw. Tonarm und
Phonovorverstärker herstellen.
3. Cinch (RCA) Stecker in die Eingangsbuchsen des
Vorverstärkers stecken.
4. Vorverstärker-Lautstärke-Stellung immer auf „0“ stellen.
5. Netzstecker des Vorverstärkers an das Stromnetz
anschließen.
Unser Tipp für die Tonabnehmereinstellung:
Wählen Sie einen hellen Arbeitsplatz, gutes Werkzeug und bewahren Sie
Ruhe und Konzentration.

3. Einstellen der Auagekraft
Entfernen Sie vorsichtig den Nadelschutz vom Tonabnehmer, indem Sie
diesen mit Daumen und Zeigenger greifen und vorsichtig nach vorne
abziehen.
Die korrekte Auagekraft für Ihren MC Tonabnehmer können Sie den
technischen Daten in dieser Anleitung entnehmen.
Bitte verwenden Sie nur diese Werte, da bei einer zu leichten Auagekraft
(1 g oder weniger) der Tonabnehmer aus der Plattenrille springen und
somit die Nadel beschädigen könnte.
Jedoch sollten Sie auch niemals mehr als 5 g einstellen, da auch dies
Schäden am Diamanten und somit am Tonabnehmer verursachen könnte.
Wenn es Ihnen nicht möglich ist, die optimale Auagekraft einzustellen,
da der Tonabnehmer zu leicht ist, sollten Sie ein Abstands-Plättchen
verwenden.
Diese sind bei Ihrem clearaudio Fachhändler erhältlich.
Weitere wertvolle Hinweise zur korrekten Einstellung Ihres Tonabnehmers
nden Sie auch in der jeweiligen Anleitung des Plattenspielers- bzw.
Tonarmherstellers.

4. Besondere Hinweise
• Reinigen Sie bitte jede Platte vor dem Erst-Abspielen mit einer
Plattenwaschmaschine. Sie erreichen dadurch eine viel ruhigere
Musikwiedergabe (um ca. 10 dB verbesserter „Signal-Rausch“
Abstand!). Fragen Sie Ihren Fachhändler nach einer geeigneten
clearaudio Plattenwaschmaschine.
• Reinigen Sie auch die Nadel regelmäßig mit einem weichen Pinsel
oder mit einer im Fachhandel erhältlichen Reinigungs üssigkeit
(clearaudio Nadelreiniger Art. Nr. AC003). Bitte achten Sie darauf,
dass hierbei keine Flüssigkeit auf den Tonabnehmerkörper gelangt
und dass mit der Bürste immer von hinten nach vorne gereinigt
wird. Vermeiden Sie die Lagerung des Tonabnehmers in Nähe
von Geräten mit elektrischen Transformatoren und Motoren, die
Magnetfelder erzeugen können. Jede Entmagnetisierung könnte
einen Ausfall der Ausgangsspannung und somit zu einer Verzerrung
oder Verschlechterung im Klang führen.
• Bitte beachten:
Trennen Sie niemals das Tonarmkabel vom Verstärker, während
Ihr Gerät immer noch eingeschaltet ist. Bitte schalten Sie den
Vorverstärker aus, bevor Sie die Tonarm-Anschlüsse von den Phono-
Eingängen des Vorverstärkers trennen.
• Bei Rücksendung an clearaudio immer die Originalverpackung
verwenden und den Nadelschutz mit einem Gummiband sichern.
• Sollte eine Wartung oder Reparatur an Ihren clearaudio Produkt
erforderlich sein, kontaktieren Sie bitte Ihren Händler oder Vertrieb.
