Avoid touching the antenna area while the antenna is in use. Contact with antennas affects the

communication quality and may reduce battery life due to higher power level during operation.

Do not connect to products that create an output signal, as this may damage the device. Do

not connect any voltage source to the audio connector. If you connect an external device

or headset, other than those approved for use with this device, to the audio connector, pay

special attention to volume levels. Parts of the device are magnetic. Metallic materials may be

attracted to the device. Do not place credit cards or other magnetic storage media near the

device, because info stored on them may be erased.

Some of the accessories mentioned in this user guide, such as charger, headset, or data cable,

may be sold separately.

Note: You can set the phone to ask for a security code to protect your privacy and personal

data. Select Menu >  > Security > Keyguard > Security code . Note, however, that you

need to remember the code, as HMD Global is not able to open or bypass it.

SET UP AND SWITCH ON YOUR PHONE

Learn how to insert the SIM cards and the memory card, and how to switch on your phone.

Nano and mini-SIM

Important: To use this phone, you need a nano-SIM card. If you have a dual-SIM phone, you

need a nano-SIM card and a mini-SIM card. Use only original nano and mini-SIM cards. Use of

incompatible SIM cards may damage the card or the phone, and may corrupt data stored on the

card.

Note: Switch the device off and disconnect the charger and any other device before removing

any covers. Avoid touching electronic components while changing any covers. Always store

and use the device with any covers attached.

Insert the SIM card

1. Put your fingernail in the small slot at the

bottom of the phone, lift and remove the

cover.

2. If the battery is in the phone, lift it out.

3. Slide the SIM card holder down and open

it up. Place the nano-SIM card under the

holder with the contact area face down,

close down the holder and slide it up to

lock it in place.

4. Put back the battery.

5. Put back the back cover.

Insert the second SIM and the memory card

1. Put your fingernail in the small slot at the

bottom of the phone, lift and remove the

cover.

2. If the battery is in the phone, lift it out.

3. Slide the mini-SIM in the SIM2 slot. Both

SIM cards are available at the same

time when the device is not being used,

but while one SIM card is active, for

example, making a call, the other may be

unavailable.

4. If you have a memory card, slide the

memory card holder to the right and open

it up. Place the memory card under the

holder, close down the holder and slide it

to the left to lock it in place.

5. Put back the battery.

6. Put back the back cover.

Press and hold .

CHARGE YOUR PHONE

Your battery has been partially charged at the factory, but you may need to recharge it before

you can use your phone.

Charge the battery

1. Plug the charger into a wall outlet.

2. Connect the charger to the phone. When done, unplug the charger from the phone, then

from the wall outlet.

If the battery is completely discharged, it may take several minutes before the charging

indicator is displayed.

Tip: You can use USB charging when a wall outlet is not available. Data can be transferred

while charging the device. The efficiency of USB charging power varies significantly, and it

may take a long time for charging to start and the device to start functioning. Make sure your

computer is switched on.

KEYPAD

Use the phone keys

• To see the apps and features of your phone, on the home screen, select Menu .

• To go to an app or feature, press the scroll key up, down, left, or right. To open the app or

feature, press the scroll key.

Lock the keypad

To avoid accidentally pressing the keys, lock the keypad: press . To unlock the keypad, select

Unlock > * .

Write with the keypad

Press a key and then use the scroll key to select the letter you need.

To type in a space press 0 .

To type in a special character or punctuation mark, select  > Insert options > Insert symbol .

To switch between character cases, press # repeatedly.

To type in a number, press and hold a number key.

CALLS

Make a call

Learn how to make a call with your new phone.

1. Type in the phone number. To type in the + character, used for international calls, press *

twice.

2. Press . If asked, select which SIM to use.

3. To end the call, press .

Answer a call

Press .

CONTACTS

Add a contact

Save and organize your friends’ phone numbers.

1. Select Menu >  > + New contact .

2. Write the name, and type in the number.

3. Select  > OK .

To add more contacts, select  > Add new contact .

Save a contact from call log

1. Select Menu > .

2. Scroll to the number you want to save, select  > Add to Contacts > New contact .

3. Add the contact’s name, check that the phone number is correct, and select  > OK .

You can call a contact directly from the contacts list.

Select Menu > , scroll to the contact you want to call, and press the call key.

SEND MESSAGES

Write and send messages

1. Select Menu >  > + New message .

2. In the Recipients field, enter the number of

the recipient, or select  > Contacts to

add recipients from your contacts list.

3. Write the message on the message field.

4. To insert smileys or symbols to the

message, select  > Insert options >

CHANGE TONES

Set new tones

1. Select Menu >  > Personalisation > Sounds .

2. Select the tone you want to change.

3. Scroll to the tone that you want and select Select .

CHANGE THE LOOK OF YOUR HOME SCREEN

Choose a new wallpaper

You can change the background of your home screen.

1. Select Menu >  > Personalisation > Lock screen background > Wallpapers .

2. Scroll to the wallpaper you want, and select Select

3. If you like the wallpaper, select .

GET THE MOST OUT OF THE TWO SIM CARDS

Your phone can have two SIM cards, and you can use them for different purposes.

Select which SIM card to use

Select Menu >  > Connectivity > Dual SIM .

• To choose which SIM to use for calls, select Preferred SIM for calls .

• To choose which SIM to use for messages, select Preferred SIM for messages .

• To choose which SIM to use for mobile data, select Mobile data connection >

Preferred SIM .

Tip: You can rename your SIM cards to make it easy to distinguish between them. Select

Menu >  > Connectivity > Dual SIM > SIM settings . Select a SIM and SIM name .

REMOVE PRIVATE CONTENT FROM YOUR PHONE

If you buy a new phone, or otherwise want to dispose of or recycle your phone, here’s how you

can remove your personal info and content. Note that it is your responsibility to remove all

private content.

Remove content from your phone

When removing private content from your phone, pay attention to whether you are removing

content from the phone memory or the SIM card.

To remove messages, select Menu > . Select  > Delete conversations , select all the

message threads and .

To remove contacts, select Menu > . Select  > Delete contacts , select all the contacts

and .

To remove your call info, select Menu > . Select  > Delete all > OK .

Check that all your personal content has been removed.

Battery and charger safety info

To unplug a charger or an accessory, hold and pull the plug, not the cord.

When your charger is not in use, unplug it. If left unused, a fully charged battery will lose its

charge over time.

Always keep the battery between 59°F and 77°F (15°C and 25°C) for optimal performance.

Extreme temperatures reduce the capacity and lifetime of the battery. A device with a hot or

object touches the metal strips on the battery. This may damage the battery or the other

Do not dismantle, cut, crush, bend, puncture, or otherwise damage the battery in any way.

If a battery leaks, do not let liquid touch skin or eyes. If this happens, immediately flush the

VOERTUIE

Radioseine kan onbehoorlik geïnstalleerde of onvoldoende afgeskermde elektroniese stelsels

in voertuie affekteer. Kontak jou voertuig of sy toerusting se vervaardiger vir meer inligting.

Slegs gemagtigde personeel behoort hierdie toestel in ’n voertuig te installeer. As dit verkeerd

geïnstalleer word, kan dit gevaarlik wees en jou waarborg ongeldig maak. Kontroleer gereeld

dat alle draadlose toerusting in jou voertuig behoorlik geïnstalleer is en goed werk. Moenie

vlambare of plofbare materiale in dieselfde kompartement as die toestel, sy onderdele of

bykomstighede berg of dra nie. Moenie jou toestel of bykomstighede op die plek waar die

PLEKKE MET POTENSIAAL VIR ONTPLOFFING

Skakel jou toestel af op plekke met potensiaal vir ontploffing, bv. naby petrolpompe. Vonke

kan dalk ’n ontploffing of brand veroorsaak, wat kan lei tot beserings of die dood. Kyk uit

vir inperkings op plekke met brandstof, chemiese aanlegte, of waar plofstof gebruik word.

Plekke waar daar ’n potensiaal is vir ontploffings, is nie altyd duidelik gemerk nie. Dit is

gewoonlik plekke waar jy aangeraai word om jou enjin af te skakel, onder die dek op bote,

chemieseoordrag- of -berging-fasiliteite, en waar die lug chemikalieë of deeltjies bevat. Vind

by vervaardigers van voertuie wat vloeibare petroleumgas gebruik (bv. propaan of butaan) uit

of hierdie toestel veilig daarmee saam gebruik kan word.

SERTIFISERINGSINLIGTING (SAR)

Hierdie mobiele toestel voldoen aan riglyne vir blootstelling aan radiogolwe.

Jou mobiele toestel is ’n radiosender en -ontvanger. Dit is só ontwerp dat dit nie die limiete vir

blootstelling aan radiogolwe (radiofrekwensie elektromagnetiese velde) sal oorskry wat deur

internasionale riglyne van die onafhanklike wetenskaplike organisasie ICNIRP aanbeveel word

nie. Hierdie riglyne bevat aansienlike veiligheidsmarges wat probeer verseker dat alle mense

word wanneer volle krag nie vir die oproep nodig is nie. Hoe laer die kraguitset, hoe laer is die

SAR-waarde.

Toestelmodelle kan dalk verskillende weergawes hê en kan dalk meer as een waarde hê.

Komponent- en ontwerpveranderinge kan dalk mettertyd voorkom, en sekere veranderings kan

dalk die SAR-waardes affekteer.
